COOKIE USAGE

This policy refers to cookies and web pages operated by Funcțional Gourmet Bites SRL.

What Are Cookies? A cookie is a small file consisting of letters and numbers stored on a computer, mobile terminal, or other device used by an internet user. The cookie is installed via a request issued by a web server to a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome) and is entirely “passive” (it does not contain software, viruses, or spyware and cannot access information on the user’s hard drive).

About Cookies: This website uses both first-party and third-party cookies to provide visitors with an improved browsing experience and services tailored to each person’s needs and interests. We use two types of cookies: session cookies and fixed cookies. Session cookies are temporary files that remain in the User’s terminal until the session ends or the application (browser) is closed, while fixed cookies remain on the User’s terminal for a set period defined in the cookie parameters or until manually deleted by the user.

In “web 2.0,” cookies play an important role in facilitating access to and delivery of many services that users enjoy on the internet, such as:

  • Personalizing specific settings like the language displayed on a website, currency for specific prices or fees, saving product options (sizes, other details) in a shopping cart and remembering these options.
  • Offering website owners valuable feedback on how users use their sites, making them more efficient and accessible.
  • Allowing the inclusion of multimedia or other applications on the site to enhance user experience.
  • Improving online advertising effectiveness.

An “Internet Cookie” (also known as a “browser cookie” or “HTTP cookie” or simply “cookie”) is a small file consisting of letters and numbers that is stored on a user’s computer, mobile device, or other equipment from which the Internet is accessed.

The cookie is installed by a request issued by a web server to a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome).

A cookie consists of two parts: its name and its content or value. Additionally, a cookie’s lifespan is determined technically, and only the web server that sent the cookie can access it again when a user returns to the website associated with that web server.

Cookies themselves do not require personal information to be used and, in most cases, do not identify individual internet users.

Some cookies are used only for a single session (session cookies) and are not retained once the user leaves the website, while other cookies are retained and reused each time the user returns to that website (“persistent cookies”). However, cookies can be deleted by a user at any time through browser settings.

A visit to this site may place cookies for purposes such as: site performance; visitor analysis; geo-targeting; registration; advertising; or for advertising sellers.

These cookies may come from the following third parties: google.com, facebook.com, ali.

Cookies are central to the efficient functioning of the Internet, helping generate a friendly browsing experience tailored to each user’s preferences and interests.

Refusing or disabling cookies may make some sites unusable.

Refusing or disabling cookies does not mean that you will no longer receive online advertising, but it will no longer take into account your preferences and interests, as indicated by your browsing behavior.

Cookies are NOT viruses! They use plain text formats. They are not pieces of code, so they cannot be executed nor can they self-run. Therefore, they cannot duplicate or replicate themselves on other networks to run or replicate again.

Because they cannot perform these functions, they cannot be considered viruses.

However, cookies can be used for negative purposes. Since they store information about users’ preferences and browsing history, both on a specific site and across multiple sites, cookies can be used as a form of Spyware. Many anti-spyware products are aware of this and regularly mark cookies to be deleted during anti-virus/anti-spyware deletion scans.

Due to their flexibility and the fact that most of the most visited sites and the largest use cookies, they are nearly unavoidable. Disabling cookies will not allow the user access to the most widespread and commonly used sites, including YouTube, Gmail, Yahoo, and others.

Here are some tips to help you browse safely with the help of cookies:

Customize your browser’s cookie settings to reflect a comfortable level of cookie security for you. If you do not mind cookies and are the only person using the computer, you can set long expiration terms for storing your browsing history and personal access data. If you share computer access, consider setting your browser to delete individual browsing data every time you close the browser. This is a way to access cookie-placing sites and delete visit information when closing the browsing session. Install and constantly update antispyware applications. Many spyware detection and prevention applications include site attack detection, blocking the browser from accessing websites that could exploit browser vulnerabilities or download dangerous software. Ensure your browser is always updated. Many cookie-based attacks exploit vulnerabilities in older versions of browsers.

Cookies are everywhere and cannot be avoided if you want to enjoy access to the best and largest sites on the Internet—local or international. With a clear understanding of how they operate and the benefits they bring, you can take necessary security measures to browse the internet with confidence.

It is possible to set your browser so that these cookies are no longer accepted, or you can set your browser to accept cookies from a specific site. However, if, for example, you are not registered using cookies, you will not be able to leave comments.

All modern browsers provide the ability to change cookie settings. These settings are usually found in the “options” or “preferences” menu of your browser.

Security and privacy issues

In general, browsers have built-in privacy settings that provide different levels of cookie acceptance, validity, and automatic deletion after the user has visited a certain site.

Other security issues related to cookies:

Since identity protection is very valuable and is the right of every internet user, it is advisable to check what potential problems cookies may create. Since they continuously transmit information in both directions between the browser and the website, if an attacker or unauthorized person intervenes during the data transmission process, the cookie information can be intercepted. Although rare, this can happen if the browser connects to the server using an unencrypted network (e.g., unsecured WiFi network). Other cookie-based attacks involve incorrect cookie settings on servers. If a website does not require the browser to use only encrypted channels, attackers can exploit this vulnerability to trick browsers into sending information via unsecure channels. Attackers then use this information to gain unauthorized access to certain sites. It is very important to be careful in choosing the most appropriate method of protecting personal information.
